Sculptra® is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator that works to thicken skin and stimulate collagen growth in various treatment areas. As with other dermal fillers, Sculptra has traditionally been used for facial rejuvenation, but its use in other areas of the body is becoming increasingly popular.
A Sculptra butt lift is a truly nonsurgical way to improve the size, shape, and contour of the derriere. Sculptra works to stimulate collagen growth in the buttocks, producing a subtle and natural-looking firmness that can last for two to three years. However, reaching desired firmness may require multiple injections spaced three to four weeks apart. This time becomes less of an issue when the benefits of Sculptra butt lift are fully considered.
During your initial consultation at the Weston Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Jon Harrell will discuss your butt lift options to help you determine if Sculptra is the best fit. Please call us at 954-526-0066 to schedule your consultation and learn more. We welcome Sculptra butt lift patients living in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and all surrounding areas of Florida.
Sculptra Butt Lift Benefits
Sculptra butt lifts are done without incisions, sutures, or surgery. This makes the Sculptra butt lift an ideal solution for patients who desire a better rounded and more appealing backside without the need for a lengthy and potentially painful recovery period. The very fact that it is a nonsurgical procedure is a benefit for many people interested in natural-looking buttock augmentation.
Because it is nonsurgical, there are no risks of bleeding, infection, or adverse reactions to anesthesia related to Sculptra butt lifts. What’s more, recovery complications, physical limitations, and time away from desired activities are avoided when buttock augmentation is done with Sculptra.
In summation, a Sculptra butt lift:
- Requires no incisions or sutures
- Does not require a lengthy recovery period
- Can be completed in under an hour
- Offers results for up to three years
- Produces a natural-looking firmness to the buttocks
If you desire a more attractive backside but are wary of traditional methods of buttock augmentation, the Sculptra butt lift may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Dr. Harrell welcomes an opportunity to discuss this with you in greater detail during your consultation at our Weston, FL office.
How Sculptra Can Add Fullness to Your Butt
Sculptra contains microparticles of PLLA, a bioactive thermoplastic aliphatic polyester most often derived from natural sources such as corn, cassava roots, or sugarcane. Once injected, these microparticles work to stimulate collagen production deep in the skin, enabling rebuilt strands of this protein to restore fullness to the treatment area.
Collagen is the main structural protein found in skin and connective tissue. As we age, our natural production of collagen slows and the amount of collagen in the body begins to diminish. Sculptra stimulates additional collagen production, allowing your body to restore its own shape over a sustained period of time.
Good candidates for a Sculptra butt lift must understand that the process can take several months as collagen rebuilds and gradually fills the buttocks. The tradeoffs are natural-looking results, significantly reduced risks, and the elimination of a lengthy recovery period. Dr. Harrell will discuss time frames with you during your initial consultation to help you better understand what you can realistically expect from the procedure. If the treatment period and delayed results are too much for your needs, alternative methods of buttock augmentation can be discussed as well.
Alternatives to the Sculptra Butt Lift
The most popular alternative to Sculptra for buttock augmentation is the Brazilian butt lift. For this procedure, fat is removed from one part of your body and reinjected into the buttocks to produce a firm and lifted appearance.
There are benefits unique to the Brazilian butt lift including the contouring of whatever part of the body is used for fat harvesting. For example, if you have excess fat in the hips, removing this fat via liposuction for transfer to your buttocks allows Dr. Harrell to tone your waist line while plumping up your butt cheeks. This added benefit makes the Brazilian butt lift ideal for people who desire a fuller backside and have areas of excess fat that they wish to have removed. However, sufficient fat must be present for a fat transfer to the buttocks to be effective.
Unlike the Sculptra butt lift, which is completely nonsurgical, the Brazilian butt lift includes liposuction. While the injection of your own fat into the buttocks is, technically, not a surgical procedure, the method by which that fat is harvested is. As such, Brazilian butt lift comes with surgical risks and recovery periods that are avoided entirely with Sculptra. This should be a consideration for people who do not have the time, resources, or bandwidth to devote to recovery.
Sculptra Butt Lift Risks
While nonsurgical, there are still some risks associated with Sculptra butt lift. These include:
- Pain or tenderness in the treatment area
- Red or itchy skin
- Swelling and bruising
- Lumps underneath the skin
In most cases, these Sculptra side-effects resolve on their own over the course of a few weeks. In rare cases, they may require an additional visit to our office for examination.
Any time a foreign substance, even one derived from natural sources, is introduced into the body, there is a risk of rejection. This risk is eliminated with fat transfer, but that process comes with risks of its own. In the end, the best procedure for your body will depend on factors unique to your anatomy and history. Dr. Harrell will take time to review all options and encourage you towards the one most suitable for your specific makeup, desires, and needs.
