Tumescent Liposuction

The term “tumescent liposuction” refers to a particular type of liposuction where a tumescent fluid is injected into the fat tissue before it is removed along with the fat through a small cannula. This fluid helps shrink blood vessels and the fat to expand for easier extraction. Tumescent liposuction is a common approach that has well established safety and success rates.

Ultrasonic Liposuction

While it may seem like a separate approach all together, ultrasonic liposuction is often performed in conjunction with tumescent liposuction. Using ultrasonic sound waves, the fat is broken up either before the procedure, or with tumescent liposuction, while the fluid is surrounding the fat. This helps liquefy the fat and allows for easier extraction.
