At the Weston Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery, we’re committed to providing safe and effective plastic surgery to the citizens of Miami. Liposuction is one of our most common procedures, and also one of our simplest. It has an excellent safety record.
Dr. Jon Harrell believes that clear communication plays an important role in providing you with a pleasant plastic surgery experience. That means answering all of your questions about liposuction and it means helping you understand what goes on during your procedure.
Before undergoing liposuction, our doctor will use a local anesthetic on the treatment area to ensure that you don’t feel any pain during the procedure. He will then make a series of small incisions.
Exactly what happens next is determined by the type of liposuction procedure you are undergoing. In tumescent liposuction, Dr. Harrell will inject an anesthetic solution into the treatment area. He will then use a small tube, or “cannula,” to remove the fat cells in the area.
Ultrasonic liposuction and laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo) are similar. However, Dr. Harrell will use ultrasound or a safe laser to break up the fat cells in the treatment area, making them easier to remove.
Dr. Harrell will discuss your options with you to ensure you get the liposuction procedure that is right for you. Most procedures take around an hour or two to complete.
If you live in the Miami, Florida area and you’re considering liposuction to remove stubborn deposits of fat, please contact The Weston Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery today.
