Many women who choose to receive breast augmentation wonder how pregnancy will affect them. After all, pregnancy changes the look and feel of the breasts, so isn’t it natural that breast implants might change as well? To discover more, please contact Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Harrell at the Weston Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery today at (954) 526-0066 to arrange your breast augmentation consultation.
The simplest answer is “it depends.” Every woman is different, and pregnancy affects all women in different ways. It’s impossible to accurately predict how a woman’s breasts will change during pregnancy and how this might affect breast implants.
If you choose to receive breast implants before pregnancy, then the implants may affect your breasts’ ability to return to their natural shape and size after childbirth. It’s possible that the breasts will recover just fine, and it’s also possible that the breasts will sag and droop more than if the implants weren’t there. Dr. Harrell will be happy to discuss any concerns you may have during your consultation.
Delaying breast augmentation until after pregnancy means waiting until you have finished lactating in order to reduce the possibility of infections and capsular contracture.
If you’re thinking about breast augmentation, it pays to understand all of the options available to you. Please contact the Weston Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery today at (954) 526-0066 to schedule your appointment with our Miami breast augmentation surgeon.
