There are a number of different liposuction techniques utilized by Fort Lauderdale plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Harrell. No two bodies have exactly the same needs and no single procedure is going to be ideal for sculpting every frame. During your initial body contouring procedure, Dr. Harrell will assess your body, paying close attention to your areas of concern, and help you determine the type of liposuction best suited to meet your needs.
Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is performed with a “wetting” solution that contains salt water, adrenaline, and local anesthetic. Injected prior to incisions being made, this solution numbs the treatment area, shrinks blood vessels, and slightly swells the skin to assist in more complete fat removal.
The benefits of tumescent liposuction include:
- No risk of general anesthesia complications
- Smaller incision
- Reduced risk of bleeding
- Lower instances of skin irregularities
Tumescent liposuction offers many benefits, but may not be right for everyone. Your skin elasticity, age, amount of fat being removed, and other considerations will need to be made prior to Dr. Harrell making this determination.
