When we think of liposuction, we often think of just one type of treatment. However, there are a number of liposuction techniques and finding the one that is right for your aesthetic goals is a crucial consideration for you and your Fort Lauderdale liposuction specialist.
Our plastic surgeon, Dr. Jon Harrell knows that no two bodies are exactly alike. He will listen to your questions and help you find the right type of treatment – whether it is liposuction, breast augmentation, or rhinoplasty. One of the more amazing developments for liposuction is the technique of tumescent liposuction.
What Is Tumescent Liposuction?
The technique of tumescent liposuction provides local anesthesia to an area of subcutaneous fat to permit the liposuction to occur. It is performed with a numbing solution of water, adrenaline, and local anesthetic which shrinks blood vessels, numbs the area, and causes the skin to swell slightly. All of which make the liposuction treatment easier and more comprehensive.
Some of the other benefits of tumescent liposuction includes:
- Less occurrence of skin irregularities
- Tinier incision size
- Lower risk factor for bleeding
- Eliminates any risk of general anesthesia complications
Some of the factors in determining which type of liposuction treatment is best for you will depend upon the amount of fat being removed, your skin’s elasticity, and individual health issues. Our caring cosmetic surgery staff will be sure to support you in whatever treatment you decide upon.
