Many of our liposuction patients are busy people who need to move around Fort Lauderdale and south Florida to meet important appointments with friends, family and colleagues. As such, they’re not really in a position where they can afford to be laid up in bed for a long time after undergoing a medical procedure.
Because of this, one of the most common liposuction questions Dr. Jon Harrell receives is about recovery times. It’s important to understand that every patient is unique and every liposuction procedure will differ in recovery time.
Dr. Harrell will walk you through everything you need to know before undergoing liposuction. However, there are a few things most patients can expect to experience after their liposuction procedure.
When it comes to a timetable, most of our patients return to work a few days after their liposuction, and they can resume a full range of normal physical activities, including exercise and sports, within a few weeks. Dr. Harrell will monitor your progress after your procedure and make sure you don’t rush back before it is safe to do so.
You will likely experience some swelling and bruising for a while after your liposuction. This is normal and doesn’t indicate any significant problems. Dr. Harrell might ask you to wear a compression garment during your recovery period.
Dr. Harrell will be on the lookout for the signs of any liposuction risks and complications, but if you follow his instructions and come in for scheduled follow-up appointments the risk of complication is low.
